Utsav / Festivals
Utsava is the Sanskrit word for Hindu festivals, meaning 'to cause to grow Upward'.
Shree Mandir has various utsavas throughout the year including Sankranti/Pongal,
Lohri, Maha Shivratri, Holi, Ram Navmi, Hanuman Jayanti, Janamashtmi, Ganesh Chaturthi,
Navratri, Dussehra, Diwali, Tulsi Vivah, Purnima.
A festival may be observed with acts of worship, offerings to deities, fasting,
feasting, vigil, rituals, fairs, charity, celebrations, Puja, Homa, Havan, Archana,
Aarti, etc. At Shree Mandir, we celebrate individual and community life of Hindus
without distinction of caste, gender or class. All devotees get to participate in
the celebrations rather than observing from outside.
All events are followed by Preeti-bhoj so that a devotee can enjoy the spiritual
experience as well as socialize with like-minded people.
